My dad is blind. As a post-grad project, I decided to make him a fully interactive vision assistant. I designed the app, titled "Son", to feel as if you have a real person helping out at all times. Successful completion of this project required a high level of prompt engineering (which included dozens of iterations of chain of thought and prompt chaining techniques), multimodal data handling, safety optimization, and audio-based UX system. I open sourced this project in 2025, giving everyone access to a free, best-in-class vision assistant.
